Semester Project

Design a Web Site 15 pts. Due 12/10/03

Four page Web site with original content demonstrating understanding of concepts and techniques learned in the course. Your Website must contain the following elements:

  • Three pages coded in DHTML, one in XML that outputs properly to HTML.
  • Demonstration of proper planning, with attention to proper color contrast, readability, resolution and bandwidth.
  • Balanced layout and proper use of format and alignment tags.
  • Your choice of one of three types of lists: definition, numbered and bulleted.
  • Use of three images. Images must be in the appropriate format (JPG or GIF) for the type of image.
  • Demonstrated mastery of internal and external links.
  • One table with proper cell spanning.
  • One frameset with properly targeted links (your choice of the number of frames used).
  • One external cascading style sheet properly linked to each page. Embedded or inline styles may be used only to the extent they are needed to override the global settings. DO NOT rely on <font> tags.
  • Use of one JavaScript to provide a function meaningful to your audience or to your design.
  • Inclusion of <meta> tags (description, keywords; copyright info and email link to your email address.
  • One form.
  • Your choice of one multimedia element (audio, video, Java applet).
The following are tips to guide you in your project design:
  • Use your assn02 document to help you stay focused on your project.
  • Decide on a site theme with tentative images and a color scheme.
  • Define the goals of your site
  • Target your intended audience. (Note: here you should be defining your resolution and degree of sophistication the site should be).
  • Research your site theme by examining three sites similar to yours. Provide the URLs.
  • Consider using storyboards and brainstorming techniques.
